The Navigator Group represents national retailers throughout North and South Carolina on their multi-market strategies.  From the mountains to the coastal markets within the Carolinas, The Navigator Group gives its clients a competitive advantage based on in-depth demographic analysis, competitive tracking, up-to-the-minute market savvy resulting from over 30 years of experience and success in retail real estate.

With their entrepreneurial spirit and passion for helping clients reach their goals, partners, Tim Brennan and Jackson Hughes, opened their doors in 2009.  Brennan and Hughes believe in providing quality service - service that is more personal, focused and dedicated.  Committed to meeting the needs of clients and exceeding their expectations, Brennan, Hughes and support staff keep up-to-date with each market by regularly canvassing the region, carrying out extensive research for each individual market, and cataloging all retailers and their activity.  With a “boutique” firm feel, clients are guaranteed undivided attention without the fear of getting lost in the main-stream shuffle.  This is why The Navigator Group has gained the trust of retailers over the years.

The Navigator Group has grown with each passing year due to superior relationships with its clients and their referrals, as well as the relationships with other brokerage and development firms within the industry.  The Navigator Group is different.  We don’t e-mail blast, advertise, or do press releases.  We fly under the radar.  The Navigator Group is about reputation, tenacity, and getting creative to make things happen.

Tim Brennan

Over 27 years Tim Brennan has been a retail broker in the Carolinas representing national and regional retailers in their multi-market development strategies.  As a native Charlottean and a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, he has strong roots in the Carolinas and a depth of market knowledge. 

He built his business through representation of retailers of all sizes and real estate requirements.  Essentially, he has worked as an extension of each client’s real estate department.  As such, he has excellent relations with retailers in most every category directly or indirectly and has concluded the following transactions throughout both Carolinas:

Tim has assisted many national and regional developers in the preleasing of many large power centers throughout the Carolinas.  Tim’s involvement was instrumental in getting many of these projects off the ground.  A sample of some of these centers includes:

Tim is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.  He holds a business degree from UNC Chapel Hill and lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife and two children.

Jackson Hughes

Bringing 14 years of retail commercial real estate experience, Jackson Hughes joined The Navigator Group at its inception in 2009.  Jackson started his career in Charlotte working with TJX Stores, Michael’s Arts and Crafts, Ulta Cosmetics, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and Cracker Barrel.  In 2005 Jackson joined a local developer to pursue Starbuck’s brokerage work and CVS Drug preferred development work in North Carolina.  In addition to Starbucks and CVS, Jackson worked with Dress Barn, Maurice’s, Jared Gallery of Jewelry, Darden Restaurants, and Cracker Barrel throughout North Carolina.

Since joining The Navigator Group in 2009, Jackson has worked with Petsmart, Kohl’s Department Stores, Home Depot, Party City, Shoe Carnival, Big Lots, PDQ, Cracker Barrel, Earth Fare, Gabe’s, Kitchen & Company, The Tile Shop, Sears Outlet/Sears Home Appliance, QuikTrip, Pep Boys, Salon Lofts, Burger Bach, Holler and Dash, Z’s Amazing Kitchen and CAVA.

Jackson’s primary business over the last 14 years has been tenant representation for national and regional retailers.  With thorough market knowledge of the Carolinas and 11 years of experience taking opportunities from the preliminary site selection process through the leasing and development process for many different types of retailers, Jackson has developed a skill set to provide the best services for his clients.

Jackson is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.  He holds a real estate finance degree from Clemson University and lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife and daughter.
